New inductions to Viterbo's Wall of Fame

The Wall of Fame at Viterbo is a prestigious honor for any Viterbo athlete alumni. It represents the legacy that a student athlete or coach has left on Viterbo Athletics. Athletes or coaches who want to become eligible for the Wall of Fame must log countless hours of work through either one single sports team here at Viterbo or left an impact on the department.

The Wall of Fame induction ceremony was held Feb. 15 over homecoming weekend here at Viterbo. This year Viterbo’s athletic department selected four new inductees: Joe Dunham, Chad Miller, Katie Flock, and Steph Wilson.

Joe Dunham left his mark on not only the basketball team, but also on the athletic department. Chad Miller has been working with the Viterbo baseball team for years. The last two inductees include two student athletes who managed to carry on amazing careers here at Viterbo.

The first inductee, Joe Dunham, has changed the landscape of men’s basketball not only as a player, but also as a supporter. He played in just two seasons at Viterbo from 1983 through 1985. In that time, Dunham accumulated 1000 points in two seasons, a first for the men’s basketball program. Dunham also held the record for highest free throw percentage. Once his athletic career ended, Dunham looked to change the lives of many future V-hawks as well. He established three scholarships: two for the basketball team and one for business students.

Chad Miller has devoted himself to the Viterbo athletic department for nine seasons from 2006 to 2014. Miller made history with his wins as the Viterbo baseball coach. Before he began his career as a head coach, he was a player on the team just five years prior. After he graduated, Miller began coaching immediately as an assistant coach from 2002 to 2005. He was named the MCC Coach of the Year in 2014 with a 34-win season and a conference champions title.

Katie Flock was a decorated volleyball player. During her four seasons playing for the program from 2009 to 2012, she was awarded Third-Team NAIA All-American, First-Team All-Region, and led the volleyball program to their first ever conference championship with a trip to the national championship quarter finals. Flock was named to the All-Academic team four years as well as Academic-All-District winner in her final season with the team.

Steph Wilson finished her time at Viterbo as a well accomplished athlete. Wilson played four seasons on the women’s soccer team from 2010 to 2013. In those seasons, she was named a two-time honorable mention NAIA All-American and made four appearances on the All-MCC team. During her junior year, Wilson guided her team to an MCC conference championship and an NAIA national tournament bid. Her junior season was capped off by being named MCC player of the year.
