Wearing sleepwear in public is the cat's pajamas
During these chilly months, staying up-to-date with the latest in fashion is just as important as staying warm. Luckily, this latest winter trend combines both needs. Sensible and stylish, wearing pajamas in public is the best choice for any fashion-forward student.
“One morning, I accidentally slept in too late, and ended up running to class in my pajamas,” recounted senior Kira Somnambulist. “After class, I was so worried people would judge or stare at me—and they were staring at me. But then I realized that it was because they were admiring my style.”
That’s right; wearing pajamas in public is no longer considered a lack of effort. This season, street style stars put their best foot forward in some seriously striking sleepwear. Everywhere from New York, Milan, Paris, New Jersey, to La Crosse people are shoving aside their button-ups and jeans for items normally not seen outside the bedroom.
“When we say ”pajamas,” we don’t mean just basic big t-shirt and sweatpants,” fashion designer Calvin Kleiniken commented. “You need to go out with bright colors, maybe even unicorns. Look like you just came from a fifth-grade slumber party.” Fleece is the best choices for such materials and are better at keeping you warm.
You know how they say something is “the cat’s pajamas”? Well now, wearing p.j.’s in public is the cat’s pajamas.
“Forget everything you’ve ever heard about stripes,” famed designer Vera Wagner remarked. “You just can’t go wrong with flannel pajamas. It’s a classic, and you can’t go wrong with classics.”
If you’re concerned about coordinating an outfit, a way around is to simply deal with one piece of clothing. The childhood favorite of the footie pajamas is gaining new traction with adults. Fashionable students could dress up as anything from a teddy bear to a unicorn.
“Normally, I’d think of someone wearing pajamas in public like it was weird, like they were giving up,” added sophomore Daron Lackadaisical. “But after seeing everyone else do it, I feel confident in leaving the house in the same clothes I’ve slept in. It really saves time getting ready in the morning.”
For those looking for a more retro look, nightgowns never go out of style. Consult your grandmother for advice as to how to look like a Victorian ghost. Or perhaps silk pajamas, to make you look extra fancy.
Whatever you chose, this season all are advised to go out and strut their stuff with pajamas in public.
Note: To those who live in the warmer climates and may, perhaps sleep in the nude, wearing your “pajamas” in public is not advisable. The idea, while hilarious, is actually like, super illegal.
