Satellite Series takes students to must-see shows
For all the awesome shows that have been brought to campus, Viterbo, unfortunately, is not able to host them all. Due to that reality, the Fine Arts department has created a solution: the Satellite Series.
The Satellite Series is a way for Viterbo to provide students with Broadway productions at affordable prices. The cost for the trip includes the tickets, bus transportation and administrative fees. The itinerary for each trip will be available once the dates are closer. Students will also be able to go sightseeing in the destination city before the performance in order to fully experience the cities they are visiting. The time also allows for shopping and dining.
The first show that the series includes was Hamilton on October 20. The show is about the founding father, Alexander Hamilton, and his accomplishments as Washington’s right-hand man. The R&B, hip-hop, and rap style brings a modern take to our nation’s history.
Although this show has already passed, there are two productions that Viterbo’s new series is offering to students. The next show will be Anastasia. The show is set in the 20’s and is the story of the missing Romanov Princess, Anastasia, on her journey to Paris in order to be reunited with her only living family. With the help of a young man and an ex-aristocrat, Anya heads off on her adventure whilst trying to outwit and outrun the Soviet officers.
Do not worry; you have plenty of time to pick up tickets. The series will be heading out to the Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis the first weekend of April.
The last show that will be a part of the 2019-2020 series is Miss Saigon. This is a love story from the creators of Les Misérables about a 17-year-old girl named Kim. While working for the engineer during the Vietnam War, Kim falls in love with an American soldier, Chris. After the fall of Saigon, the two are separated. Kim spends the next three years on a journey to find the father of her child.
Miss Saigon will be performed at the Marcus Performing Arts Center in Milwaukee on June 20. Tickets for Anastasia and Miss Saigon are on sale now on the Fine Arts Center web site.
