Do Yourself 'A Simple Favor', Save Your Money
As this is a film review, a proper SPOILER ALERT is in order.
I would like to help students save their hard-earned cash by letting you in on the ups and downs regarding A Simple Favor directed by Paul Feig, starring Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively.
Although this film was released from theatres and can now be found in your local Redbox, I would still avoid it.
The emotional journey you take with this film can be best described as a roller coaster that was once invigorating and refreshing suddenly became boring, slow and predictable.
What’s sad about the journey of this film was that it hooks you at the very beginning with the acting chops of Kendrick and Lively and then seemingly lets the audience down.
Both women played parts that were both refreshing and smooth, which is hard to come by for leading ladies in film.
Not once did either actor play the ending of this film but to be honest with the whack ending you receive, I don’t even think the worse actor on this planet could have.
Once you’ve been sucked into the story and are exasperating for a resolved ending, Feig introduces characters and plot twists that are more fit for a cheesy TV soap opera which he tried cramming into a 2-hour long film.
There are more plot twists than growth and development of Kendrick’s’ and Lively’s characters, which leaves you wanting more at the end of, as I said before, a two-hour long film.
Save your money and your high hopes for A Star is Born which is still in theatres and is already receiving lots of Oscar buzz!
