LITTLE THINGS TO BE THANKFUL FOR DURING FINALS

No matter how terrible the last few weeks of the semester have been for you, you have to be happy – thankful, even – for a few blessings that have, if you are reading this, most likely come your way as winter break approaches. We at the Lemon would like to remind you how lucky you are to be right where you are, right now. Thus, we have a compiled a list of the top seven things you should be thankful as finals week comes upon us.

1. You’re not dead … yet. Let’s face the facts. Studying could actually kill you. Finals induced stressed has made huge blows on students’ health in the past, forcing some to drop out of school to get themselves to a place of physical and mental health once more. Academia as a whole has largely ignored this issue. Why is this? We don’t know. However, you get to pat yourself on the back; stress hasn’t wiped you out yet. No matter how bad those grades, no matter how late the nights … you’re still breathing. And that’s something to celebrate.

2. You don’t have a family of 13 children to support. Let’s face it; that would just terrible and overwhelming for you right now. That’s not where you’re at. Try to be a little grateful about that; can’t you?

3. You’re not Donald Trump. Like him, hate him … we’re not telling you how to feel. However, no matter which way you voted, let’s just say you should be glad you’re not him. There’s some hope left for you as a human being.

4. You don’t have to start paying off your cripplingly huge pile of student loans yet. That’s after you graduate. Whoopee. If you graduate this semester, of course … well, good luck with that. At least you still have a few more days. Savor them!

5. Stir Fry Steve, that blessing to humanity, is still alive and well. That’s right, those made-in-front-of-your-very-eyes chicken fajitas, omlettes and of course, stir fry dishes aren’t leaving the Viterbo cafeteria anytime soon.

6. You’re almost done with finals! This is the one to really get excited about, because it’s the truest – this, and you not being dead. But seriously, hurray! You’re almost done with the semester! In only a few days you’ll be cuddled up at home, watching claymation Rudolph and Clarice fight the Abominable Snowman, and forgetting that you were ever this overwhelmed with tests, papers and assignments.

Best of luck on finals everyone, from all of us here at the Lemon!
